Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends & Happy Independence Day to all those in the United States!
Denver’s PrideFest was two weeks ago and it was an amazing weekend. Lots of new faces, lots of great people, and the vibes were wonderful when we were up on stage. I was fortunate to work with an incredibly talented group of performers [Jordan, Rus, Gilbert, and Brent] and even a handful of people that helped me with the last song [Ryan, Tracy, Jonathan, Daniel, Cathi, Sam, Jason, and Elijah]. We recreated parts of the ‘Rise Above’ music video with an extra little twist, and I think we got some of the biggest cheers of the day. Numerous people stopped by afterwards to say that the show affected them and brought them to tears. Another great part of the weekend was that my mom flew in to help us and show her support, and Todd and Pony [from the Todd & Pony Show podcast] flew in from Portland to join us in the festivities.
After that, I flew to Tucson, AZ to make up a leadership course that I missed during Pride and it offered many powerful insights. The community project I’m working on is called “Half of Plenty” and its purpose is to provide fresh garden produce to women and children living in poverty in the Denver area. Due to rising food costs, shelters can’t afford much more than canned food, so any fresh food is greatly appreciated. If you’d like to contribute to the cause, either by joining the project as a leader or participant, or through donations, please contact me.
Have a great weekend!
