Happy July 1st and 4th!

3 July 2008

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends & Happy Independence Day to all those in the United States!

Denver’s PrideFest was two weeks ago and it was an amazing weekend.  Lots of new faces, lots of great people, and the vibes were wonderful when we were up on stage.  I was fortunate to work with an incredibly talented group of performers [Jordan, Rus, Gilbert, and Brent] and even a handful of people that helped me with the last song [Ryan, Tracy, Jonathan, Daniel, Cathi, Sam, Jason, and Elijah].  We recreated parts of the ‘Rise Above’ music video with an extra little twist, and I think we got some of the biggest cheers of the day.  Numerous people stopped by afterwards to say that the show affected them and brought them to tears.  Another great part of the weekend was that my mom flew in to help us and show her support, and Todd and Pony [from the Todd & Pony Show podcast] flew in from Portland to join us in the festivities.

After that, I flew to Tucson, AZ to make up a leadership course that I missed during Pride and it offered many powerful insights.  The community project I’m working on is called “Half of Plenty” and its purpose is to provide fresh garden produce to women and children living in poverty in the Denver area.  Due to rising food costs, shelters can’t afford much more than canned food, so any fresh food is greatly appreciated.  If you’d like to contribute to the cause, either by joining the project as a leader or participant, or through donations, please contact me.

Have a great weekend!

13 June 2008

You did it again!  I just heard from MTV that ‘Rise Above’ reached #8 on Logo’s Click List for this week, starting tonight.  Thanks to everyone who voted – you know that your votes count!  Let’s keep this going and keep climbing the charts 🙂

I also got an e-mail earlier this week for another chart ranking: Artist Underground.  Their electronica charts show that ‘What Would You Do’ premiered at #40.

If you’re in the Denver area in the next week, we’ve got two shows coming up at PrideFest on Sunday, June 21st.  Check out the events page to get the details.

Have a great weekend

After Canada, it’s show time again

3 June 2008

It’s been a while since the last blog post, and the reason I haven’t been in touch is because I ran off to Canada to get married. Despite the snow and ice, it was a wonderful trip and our families were very supportive. I guess all the lyrics in “I Believe” did come true after all.

Now that we’re back it’s time to shift into performance mode again, with a show in Pueblo, CO this Saturday [June 7th] at Pirate’s Cove. The 2-set show starts at 9 PM and we’ll be there ahead of time to hang out and meet everyone. Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 in advance, available at the venue. All the details can be found on my events page.

After that, we’ll be hitting the local PrideFests with Denver’s on June 22nd and Colorado Springs on July 20th, with some other show dates being worked out. Can you think of other venues that would want to put on a show? Let us know at booking@bluediscorecords.com

charts.jpgAfter dropping off the Most Added Charts January, Rise Above has returned… this time on the Top 40 National Club Charts!  DJ Times has it listed right now on their website [DJTimes.com] and it should be in print for their April issue.

Last night Rise Above was featured on the Locals Only show on Channel 93.3 KTCL in Denver, and it’s still in heavy rotation on Sirius Radio, Area 33.  If you have a minute, please call in or e-mail them and thank them for supporting independent music!

MTV’s Logo and Music Connection Magazine

26 February 2008

If you missed the ‘Rise Above’ premiere on MTV’s Logo channel Sunday night, you can still catch it on their website this week. Click here or look for their ‘NewNowNext Music: Videos’ page. If you have a minute, please also go to their contact page to request the video again! This is a great opportunity to get the message out to more people around the country.

Also, thanks to my artist friend Chris Valenti, I got to talk to Music Connection Magazine about some recent exposure on Satellite radio and how it benefits artists. Their article can be found here.

On MTV’s Logo this Sunday

22 February 2008

logo.jpg I just got word from MTV that they will be airing the Rise Above music video on their Logo network this Sunday night [Feb 24th]! It’s been an ongoing project over the past few months to get the video closed captioned and in their hands, and it has finally happened.

The video will air on their NewNowNext Music show at Midnight Eastern Time. You can find out more about Logo’s TV listings here.

If you’re in the Denver area, we’re planning on getting a group together to watch it. E-mail me if you’d like to join us!

The New King of Dance Music?

26 December 2007

a.gifAbout.com’s Ramone Johnson and Kurt Kirton have some very nice things to say about the ‘begin’ album:

“It’s not often a solo male dance artist (independent or not) comes along that can pull off a release of this caliber. Bravo! I cant wait to get this disk back in my CD player!”

You can read their comments here and pick up your copy of ‘begin’ here
